Llanarth Maldwyn ap Braint X Llanarth Malen Trystan was imported by us from Canada as a yearling. We spent countless hours and dollars calling, emailing and watching videos from breeders in both the US and abroad. Trystan has been everything we hoped for… He is a LARGE Section D Welsh Cob Stallion, standing at about 15.2-15.3 hands. He has also shown that he can excel at dressage which was the original reason for his purchase. Trystan and Melissa (his rider) have had the priviledge of being invited to ride for MANY TOP dressage riders and trainers. As a pair, they were invited to Equine Affair in Pomona, California to ride in a dressage seminar for the incomparable Lendon Gray. At the beginning Lendon stated to the crowd that if you wanted to be competitive at the upper levels of dressage you had to have an “accepted” breed, ie. Thoroughbred, Warmblood, etc. By the end of the clinic she told everyone that Trystan had the ability to compete at that level, regardless of his breed! He was so well mannered and "light on his feet" and balanced that he had what it took to compete at the World Level. Unfortunately, Trystan has only had the opportunity to compete in dressage at First level in 1997 (well before the Equine Affaire appearance) where he received scores into the 70’s, it was that same show that won him the honor of the highest scoring ride of the year through the Pomona Chapter of the CDS. Since then, the pair have done clinics with Hilda Gurney, Guenter Seidel, Gerhardt and many other well known dressage riders and trainers. They have also been asked to ride in the Norco Day of Dressage event several times and have gladly accepted. In November of 2005 we took several of our ponies and cobs to the Holiday Welsh Show in Pomona, CA. This was a Double Gold show. There Trystan was Reserve Champion Section D Stallion and he also went on to win the Ridden Champion title! This was a huge honor as this award is judged on "briliance" and is most closely related to the classes in the UK. In late 2006, Trystan underwent colic surgery, and in true Welsh form, he made it through 5 hours of surgery, and hasn't looked back! In April '07, Trystan was back on the show scene. Finding himself, again, in the winner's circle of the Ridden Cob Classic class, as well as Reserve Champion English Pleasure (All Sections)! Trystan is standing to a limited book. His stud fee is $750 LFG including a $250 booking fee. We are proud to offer On Farm AI or Transported Cooled Semen through Badger Training Center and Stallion Station. The first collection and shipment is included in the stud fee (additional collections are $150 plus shipping at this time). Certain discounts may be given for purebred Welsh mares as well as mares of exceptional quality, please email us for details.
