Windrose Farm

Where ponies are family.

Boarding/Training

Here at Windrose Farm, we pride ourselves in raising family oriented Welsh Ponies and Cobs, but our goals don’t end there.  We are also proud to offer boarding and/or training for outside horses on a limited basis.  We will be highly selective in the clients we choose to work with as we want the farm to remain fun and very family oriented.  This is a low stress and safe place to train and board your horse(s).  We offer either 12’x24’ stalls with welded wire all the way around for safety (these have a 12’ cover over the back half of the stall) as well as 12’x12’ indoor stalls with 12’x24’ pipe corral runs.  Boarding and training prices vary, so please email us with your desires and we will be happy to give you a VERY reasonable price quote.    Below are just some of the amenities we are happy to share with our clients.

The arena,  built just slightly larger than a full size dressage arena with seating abilities on 2 sides.  It has a nice beach sand ground covering to keep down the dust and give a little cushion to the horses’ legs.  The heavy sand also stays put during our infrequent, but heavy wind storms.

The “pony pen”.   The ponies are on constant turn out in a dirt lot area.  There is also a small hill in the middle that the enjoy running up and down and a 12x24 three-sided shelter for them to get under during inclement weather.

The grass pen where the horse mares or others are turned out.  This is kept in grass 365 days of the year.  It has a permanent sprinkler system that covers the entire arena.  It can also be used for riding if so desired.

Round Pen-Measuring 60’ in diameter, we have found it the perfect size for training youngsters to lunge, ground drive and start horses under saddle.  It also has a sand base.  Also shown in this picture is our night lighting system.  With the construction lights we can make it look like day in the middle of the night.  The lights are shown in the down position, when we use them they are raised quite high.  Also they have a generator that runs them and are completely mobile!  In the foreground is one of our natural jumps!

The wash rack.  At the moment there are only 2 reinforced cross ties.  One lower for the ponies, the other taller for the horses.  At this time there is only cold water, but we hope to change that soon.  In this picture you can also see the back of our tack room and behind that is the goat loft area.

The stalls and another small turnout area.  To the left are the newer stalls, they are 12’x24’ stall shedrow with wire mesh 6’ high in each stall with a 12’ cover over the back of the stalls.  On the right is the barn.  The 2 stalls shown have an indoor 12’x12’ stall with 12’x24’ pipe corral and to the right (not in the picture) are 2 more stalls , 12’x24 pipe corral with a 12’ cover over the front.  In the foreground is another small turnout area with a vinyl hotwire on one side (for easy take down).  It is kept in grass about 3/4 of the year.

Ah, the Bobcat-We’d be lost without it.  It doesn’t look like much, but it saves us lots of work and back aches! (Please note, the bales seen behind the bobcat are straw jump bales and are not fed to the horses!
